Girls Brigade awards

Affinity provided technical support at a Girls Brigade awards ceremony in November.

Girls attended the event with their parents and group leaders. Affinity staff and crew decorated the venue the night before and looked after lighting, audio and AV on the day.

Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage 2009

Affinity Events again supported a successful youth pilgrimage in Walsingham in August this year.

Sunny weather helped as staff and crew built the outdoor venues and infrastructure for a week-long camping event.

Affinity also provided all the technical equipment and set in the main Big Top venue, which was used for worship and entertainment by the 800 young people who attended and their leaders.

Affinity also supported the attendees as they took part in a silent, candlelit procession through Walsingham to the village shrine one evening, ensuring everyone was kept safe.

Seek, Serve, Follow tour

Affinity toured around the UK supporting the Girls’ Brigade with its Seek, Serve, Follow tour.

 

Launching Girls’ Brigade England and Wales’ new leadership resource “Seek, Serve, Follow”, the roadshow comprised seven events. These took place at church venues in Manchester, Birmingham, Yeovil, Maidstone, Sutton, Chelmsford and Portsmouth between October and December 2008.

 

Affinity was a member of the event team, providing technical and general support at all events.

Walsingham youth pilgrimage 2008

Affinity was delighted to manage the  2008 Youth Event at Walsingham for the second year running. Our team of event and production managers worked with the organisers for several months, creating an infrastructure, planning the layout of the campsite, obtaining technical equipment and liaising with volunteer teams.

Unfortunately, the 2007 sun did not show its face. Instead, heavy rain and hail caused flash flooding. A 6-inch river ran through the Big Top and piles of ice appeared around site. Affinity’s event and steward managers worked successfully on traffic, site and venue plans to overcome this, enabling the final event to take place in a dried-out Big Top. Departures went ahead without a hitch.

A new addition for 2008 was an ecumenical service. We are already looking forward to next year!

Youth Camping Event

As a major provider of event management services, we were pleased to be awarded the contract to manage the 2007 Youth Event at Walsingham.  Our teams of event and production managers have been working with the organisers for the last few months to organise the infrastructure, plan the campsite and organise the technical equipment.

We provided a team of event managers to roll-out the site, manage the event and clear away everything at the end.

The event was a great success and we are already looking forward to next year.

Oct ‘06 Event - National Indoor Arena

Affinity Events were appointed event managers for the Oct06 youth event which took place at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.  Affinity helped CYS with a complete event management service, as well as providing technical support and equipment.  We also managed the ticketing process (including online sales).

MAYC Breakout

The Affinity Events team have just returned from their second visit of the year to the Blackpool Winter Gardens where they have  completed the bi-annual MAYC youth event.  Affinity have been working with MAYC  since 2002 on their ‘Breakout Event’ which is organised by a team of volunteers for up to 2,000 young people aged between 14 and 18.

A variety of activities took place over the weekend, including a large number of workshops, a sports zone and evening concerts on the Friday and Saturday nights.  Our production management team also assisted with the management of all site technical equipment which saw nearly a dozen different venues running at the same time.

Our event ticketing team also managed, designed and administered the ticketing for the event which allowed youth leaders to book online, by phone or by post.

We are pleased to continue our work with MAYC and have already started working on the 2008 event.

Alton Towers Concert

For the last few years. Affinity Events have provided marquees for this one day concert at Alton Towers.  Following the event in 2004, Affinity were approached to take over the running of the event in its entirety.

Working with the organisers, Alton Towers and the various contractors, Affinity took the event to a new level, with a large new stage, LED video and a custom designed sound system to overcome noise issues.

The Affinity sound solution meant that the sound was louder in the arena than has been allowed in the past, but could not be heard at any of the local houses. Co-operation with local residents is important to ensure good relationships are maintained within the community.

Firm Foundations - Girls & Boys Brigade

Every year Affinity Events work with the Boys & Girls Brigade, providing infrastructure including a large Big Top, for their annual weekend event. This year various members of the team took charge of different parts of the site equipment, and were on site for just over a week.

The event was very popular, and attracted over one thousand young people for the weekend’s activities.

MAYC Intense - Youth Festival

Affinity Events have been working with the MAYC for the last four years, and are responsible for helping to produce three large scale events for them this year alone. Second in the trilogy was 6T:Intense - a weekend camping event in Derbyshire.

Delegate booking was handled through our online delegate management solution. We look forward to future events with MAYC.
